Acadia National Park

We took a weekend trip to Acadia National Park on the coast of Maine. We drove up on Saturday and spent the night in Bar Harbor. One nice thing about touring this time of year is that you do not have to make reservations. There were only few hotels open in town, and no problem with a room. Winter rates are good too! The bad thing about touring this time of year is that there is not much open. Take your choice.

The picture on the left is the view out our window in
Bar Harbor, ME. On the right is the rugged and beautiful coastline. We heard Tom Selek has a home here somewhere. Don't know if this is it, but it could be....

Cape Cod

We visited Cape Cod at a time when very few visitors do. Things were pretty deserted. Most restaurants were closed and the two Lighthouses below were not open for visitors. We saw several of the many on the island. I really like the photo of the lighthouse across the snow.

Newport Rhode Island

This is The Breakers in Newport, RI. We toured three of the incredible Newport Mansions built there by the Vanderbilts and others. In addition to The Breakers, we visited The Elms and Marble House. We did each one on a separate weekend. They reminded us a lot of Hearst Castle in California. They were truly part of the Guilded Age.
