Aunt Reah

My aunt went home to be with Jesus yesterday afternoon. Mike and his family were with her at the time but Judy and Carrie, sadly, weren't. Judy was taking her dad to a doctor's appointment and Carrie & I were at the cemetery finalizing things. The family is very sad but so glad their mom is out of pain and home with her Lord.

My sister, Julie, will drive up with my mom Saturday and Greg flies in Sunday evening to Sacramento. Visitation is Sunday afternoon and services will be Monday.

We appreciate your prayers at this difficult time.

  2. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know it is a hard time of year to have an event like this happen, as every Christmas season will now be shared with this anniversary. My prayers are with you. How wonderful that Reah leaves such a strong legacy of faith. May that comfort you all as you remember and celebrate her life.

  5. Your blog didn't come up until Donna told me about it. I join all the others in prayers and remembrance. It is such a hard time, especially with your own parents not being as well as you would like. How will Uncle Linc take it? It looks as though Greg isn't going to try to bring your dad. Will he realize all that is happening? Take care of your mom (I know you will).

Rhea had a good, long life, and a good marriage, with three great children. You can all be thankful for that, and for the fact that you know you will all see her again.

  6. Though I haven't seen them in a long time, I always remember Aunt Rhea and Uncle Linc from when we visited their farm. They were such warm people who made us feel so welcome. It's sad to think of her gone now.

  7. First, thanks to everyone for the comments and support. The first day was the toughest and everyone is now so busy getting ready for the services that they don't have much time to grieve. Since everyone had about 3 weeks to prepare for the end, they were able to ready themselves as well as you can for such things.

Mom -- Let me try to answer your questions. The three kids will tell Linc on Sunday. They are not sure how he will handle it, or if he will really understand or remember from day to day. That does not make it easy. How they deal with it long term depends on what he remembers and asks. They plan to take him to the graveside service on Monday but not to anything else.

I'm assume you were asking if Linc would realize what is happening, not Carl. Carl is not coming for the service, but there is nothing wrong with his mind. He just can't hear or see well so it is very difficult to be in large groups and crowds. Greg is flying directly to Sacramento on Sunday. Julie is driving up with Betty on Saturday. Betty is handling it very well since she had an opportunity to come up and say her goodbyes last week.

  8. Doesn't Greg live in Rochester, NY or near there? I think he is missing a lot of snow.
