Alaska - Stopover in Las Vegas

This morning I took the truck in for service. I had all the filters changed along with lube and oil. It sure is a lot bigger job than on cars and pickups. While I was gone Nana and the kids walked across the street to the new Wal-Mart to do a little shopping. When I got home we all walked over to Sam’s Town to watch the Mystic Falls show. It is a dancing water show that only lasts about 10 minutes but it’s free and fun.

After the show we boarded the free shuttle busses that Sam’s Town runs to the Las Vegas Strip. We took the one that dropped us off at the Tropicana and we walked across the street to New York New York where we had a late lunch or early dinner of New York style pizza. Then we visited Excalibur, the Luxor and Mandalay Bay. While at the Luxor the kids went on the “Search for the Obelisk” ride. The kids enjoyed seeing all the neat stuff, but we were all tired of walking by the time we got back to the Tropicana for the 7:00 PM bus back to Sam’s Town. A dip in the pool and some ice cream made us all feel better. We are going to bed early tonight so we can get an early start in the morning.

  1. I assume that Sam's Town is something developed by Sam Walton, the founder of Walmart?

  2. Nope. This Sam is a different Sam who is not connected in any way to Sam Walton. Sam's Town Casino has been in Las Vegas for many, many years, even before Wal-Mart existed.
